In
Radio
Since
1992, CEMINA has organized more than 300 radio training courses
conceived mainly for three types of audiences: popular communicators
who wish to improve their knowledge of gender, inserting this content
in their radio activities; women group leaders interested in learning
how to use radio as a strategy for mobilization; and, youth groups
for whom radio is an opportunity for creativity and learning about
important themes for their own development.
The
courses were, in many cases, organized in partnership with professionals
dealing with issues such as breast feeding, cancer prevention and
health. In many cases they addressed youth groups belonging to the
hip hop movement, school teachers and community agents from areas
affected by desertification in the Northeast of the country.
The
methods used in the training courses included the production of
special thematic programs, campaigns and also a radio soap opera.
These products arose from a collective effort and reflected the
cultural and social diversity of Brazil. As a consequence, there
is a strong regional influence of these products reflecting the
geographical distribution of the participants of the training courses
themselves.
